Re: 1994 Steelers vs. 1997 Steelers

Oh please. 97 KC was a fraud. How that team went 13-3 with the 4th best roster in their own division is beyond me. OAK/SEA had better players yet the Chiefs got by on Marty smoke and mirrors luck. Horrible running game, Grbac and Gannon, only 1 WR worth a damn (washed up Andre Rison) KC was the wea...

Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated

I said it before and I’ll say it again- it was a top heavy conference. Outside of the 85 Bears/96 Packers, it was basically the 49ers and NFCE carrying the load Oh, definitely. You can't be an AFC Champion being average to weak. Those Bronco teams were average. They had John Elway and not a whole l...

Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated

The 1984 49ers IMHO are the most overrated team in NFL history People talk about the 72 Dolphins easy schedule. Look at the 84 49ers and THEIR schedule. I mean, half of their wins came against teams with .500 or worse records. Awful AFC Central, worst Saints/Falcons pairing of that era, mediocre Ea...

Re: Worst draft classes for a team

6. IK Enemkpali - DT That's the guy who punched QB Geno Smith in the face in August 2015 over 600 dollars that Smith allegedly owed him. Naturally, the Bills and Sexy Rexy signed him after that, and put him on their practice squad after cutting him (he was activated that year and played in 11 games...

Re: The 6 Losses of the 1991 SF 49ers

That Oakland loss was not only bad but it set up events that would help the young Cowboys become champions. Charles Haley was so upset after the loss that he created chaos in the locker room and the team had to summon Ronnie Lott from the opposite locker room to help calm him down. Haley was then t...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread

I don’t. LA’s Viking jinx was real and they had already beaten Washington in the 74 playoffs.
Haden played terribly in the mud. I don't see him playing better against Washington's secondary, which was better than Minnesota's (with Joe Lavender, Ken Houston, and Jake Scott).

Re: Worst draft classes for a team

Since 2017, the Denver Broncos have been held hostage by an out of control John Elway and his crappy FO and scouting department (that even the Walmart-Penner group won't get rid of): 2017: Garret Bolles was a poor pick in Round 1 (over Ramczyk, no less). In Round 2, they take DeMarcus Walker, a 4-3 ...

Re: Best ever Forty Niners team?

What people don't see is it takes a lot of luck with these dynasties. UCLA cheated, but they played in a weak era, and they got lucky several times. 10 titles in 12 years....luck. That's an interesting take. And 1973 Indiana had the most reprehensible person in college basketball history (Dave Blis...

Re: Best ever Forty Niners team?

I suppose it might be that way if you watched the Celtics always win the NBA or John Wooden and UCLA always win. By the time the Yankees won the 3-straight WS, I had watched sports long enough that I was able to appreciate it while it was happening, in a way that I couldn't appreciate the Steelers ...

Re: Were 10-6 49ers of '91 as good as record indicated?

Why should McDonald have been playing linebacker and Lee Woodall strong safety in your opinion? This wasn't my idea, but it came from a guy that I talk football with a lot online (and a former 49er fan). It goes like this: What Lee did best was pass coverage, pursuit, and open-field tackling. Also,...
