I heard that the Falcons were also looking at Thomas, but he went to SF because he was friends with Eddie D.
He probably doesn't do much better in Atlanta. They probably fire him, and maybe they hire Eddie Lebaron a few years later (and maybe Dan Reeves takes the HC job and doesn't go to Denver).

Re: 2022/1989 Pittsburgh Steelers
Especially the Steelers. Bubby Brister would have been too young and devil may care to know that he is supposed to get slammed. One key is that DEN had the previous Super Debacles looming over their heads- PIT/CLE wouldn't have had that pressure.

Re: Eagles at Falcons NFCCG, 1980
As for a hypothetical SB..... I don't think Leeman Bennett would have had ATL as uptight ala Vermeil. Bartkowski couldn't have fared any worse than Jaws did. The Raiders routed the Falcons the year before (50-19 in Week 7). In that game, Atlanta out-gained the Raiders (434-347) but had six turnover...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
The 73 Raiders lost 4 games and had a tie. They barely held off Denver in their own division, plus benefitted from a playoff rotation where they avoided Cincinnati. That was by far OAK’s weakest team of the Madden era 1970 seemed to be a bit weaker, but 1973 wasn't far off. The next three years, th...

Re: 1983 Chargers
The 84 Chargers are more intriguing 0-8 in the AFC West but 7-1 against the rest of the league (including wins over Miami AND Chicago) Right. I remember PRO! magazine doing a feature on the AFC West at the end of that season (being the toughest division in football, which it was in spades). I am al...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
I think Bill Parcells said if the Giants had selected Reggie White in the 1985 allocation of the rights to USFL players, their defense would have been declared illegal. I think they selected Hall of Fame tackle Gary Zimmerman, but he did not like New York City. They probably get one more Super Bowl...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
Gabriel could have joined, with Tom Flores traded a year earlier and Lamonica still backing up Kemp in Buffalo. Could Gabriel had led them to a western division championship over the Chiefs? Could other former NFL QBs had helped other AFL teams? As for the Rams in the NFL, they would have lost thei...

Re: Worst RBs/WRs with a 1000 yard season?
In terms of 1000 yard seasons Winder was definitely a one hit wonder...however his 8 other seasons he was still a contributor in terms of running/catching the ball out of the backfield. Not a great player but not one that holds an offense back either He actually had two Pro Bowl appearances - 1984 ...

Re: Worst RBs/WRs with a 1000 yard season?
Gaston Green comes to mind for Denver. 4 very nondescript years in the NFL where he wasn't much of a blip on the radar despite being a 1st rounder. I was never impressed with him 1991 however, 1,037 yards in 13 games. Pretty darn good. By 1993 he was out of the league Green wasn't the only one-hit ...

Re: Top, and Worst, Ten teams of the 14-game era, '61-thru-'77?
For the top 10 best, I would have the 76 and 75 Steelers at 1 and 2 followed by the 66 Packers and 73 Dolphins. I would also include the 1976 Patriots on my list. A great team that got robbed in Oakland (as well as the 77 Cowboys).
