Re: Seniors

I could see why having your prime years split between three different teams hurts; especially before free agency. You mention retired numbers, well in Jackson's case in particular, he played some prime years for the Rams, and wore number 29. A number that has since been retired for Eric Dickerson. ...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread

The 73 Raiders lost 4 games and had a tie. They barely held off Denver in their own division, plus benefitted from a playoff rotation where they avoided Cincinnati. That was by far OAK’s weakest team of the Madden era At the end of the season with the division on the line, the Raiders beat KC by 30...

I think we overrate the strength of the AFC as outside of the 70 Colts/77 Broncos the AFC for the rest of the decade was basically a 3 team league
If I'm a head coach, I'd much rather face Bob Avellini and Bob Lee as opposed to Ken Anderson and Ken Stabler.

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread

Looking at the 1977 postseason.... this is probably selling the 77 Broncos short, because Denver usually played Pittsburgh tough (although they got stomped in the 78 playoffs and 79 regular season), but what if the Steelers defeat Denver? Do they win against Oakland in the AFC Championship game? Do ...

Re: 1985 Seattle Seahawks

When good, they were very good (blowouts of division winning Browns and Raiders) When bad, they were very bad (MNF setbacks to Rams/49ers) What the heck happened to this version of Ground Chuck in the Pacific Northwest? I remember that being a theme with Dave Krieg. Very hot-and-cold QB. IIRC, Chuc...

Re: Obscure trivia

EDIT... Ok so I might have found a glitch on Stathead. When I search for number of KO TDs allowed by the Steelers in the 1950s it lists 5. When I change the search to list individual games the Steelers allowing a KO TD in the same span, it only lists the 3 Matson games. Hmmm I found an error in the...

Re: Obscure trivia

Super Bowl Era means '66 and on? Does this constitute and obscure trivia question? This team allowed 3 kickoff return touchdowns over the span of an entire decade...all three kickoff return TDs were scored by the same opposing player. Name the team, the decade and the player. Yes that absolutely co...
