Re: Best Teams To Miss The Playoffs
Oh, and if we're just talking about teams from after the merger in 1970, I might vote for the 1979 Redskins. I think they would have been the NFC's top seed for the playoffs if not for that one-point to Dallas in the final game. I thought that also until a few years ago when I really dug in and res...

Re: What's the biggest football moment you witnessed in person?
I remember Don Majkowski wore #5 (Paul Hornung's number) in that game. He was usually #7, but he wore 5 that day. Was kind of neat to see. I don't know if he or the team was honoring Hornung that day, but he wore #5. That's the number he was issued. It was changed after one season. Hornung's number...

Re: Roger Craig
I recently watched an interview with Montana who said "None of us can believe that Roger Craig isn't in the HOF. We just don't understand it." That's likely not an exact quote, but that's pretty much what he said in very clear terms. He's another one of those guys - if you were watching fo...

Re: What's the biggest football moment you witnessed in person?
I've only gotten to go to a few NFL games in person. Of those, the most historical was a Broncos/Packers tie game in Milwaukee in 1987. Players strike started the next day - after the Monday night game. For some reason, I remember Don Majkowski wore #5 (Paul Hornung's number) in that game. He was us...

Re: Michael Strahan- Did he only make the HOF because of his storybook ending?
Strahan, IMHO, looked like a HOF caliber player throughout his career. While I think a few inductees have been bolstered by being in the media, I think Strahan would have likely made the HOF even if he had done something else after football.

Re: 1968 NFL/AFL radio summary
This is fantastic - thank you for posting this difficult to find information. The $55 million total for both college and pro rights equates to about $400 million in today's economy (according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics). Each individual NFL team makes about that amount in media deals now: htt...

Re: Seniors
I could see why having your prime years split between three different teams hurts; especially before free agency. You mention retired numbers, well in Jackson's case in particular, he played some prime years for the Rams, and wore number 29. A number that has since been retired for Eric Dickerson. ...

Re: Seniors
I'm not quite old enough to remember Harold Jackson with the Rams - I do remember him with the Patriots. And those teams I associate with Stanley Morgan at receiver more than Harold Jackson. I like Jackson from looking at his accomplishments, however. I do feel a need to point out that Charlie Joine...

Re: Seniors
Someone else can totally prove me wrong but he was good, very good, but I have seen players without the so-called "alls" who IMO were dominant and players without the "numbers" who looked dominant ... not a ton of them but I have also seen guys with a good HOF resume--the number...

Ki Aldrich and Larry Craig
My sweet spot for knowledge is 50s - 80s but these two guys just happened upon my radar in recent months. The video I've gotten to see of Craig is impressive, as are the stories I've heard about Ki Aldrich.
Curious to know what people who know 30s/40s NFL think about these two for HOVG.
