Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated
I realize that I'm opening myself to a lot of potential criticism here but this discussion - IMHO - seems to be totally off the rails. The Bills and Broncos dominated the AFC Championship Games for their time. Denver won 3 out of 4 and the Bills won 4 straight. I don't care what they did two weeks l...

Re: 1971 NFL season discussion
George Allen's first season in Washington. NFL Films did a really good overview of their season that used to be on YouTube. Not sure if it still is. Basically knocked the Rams out of the playoffs on a late Monday Night Football win. Dallas won their first Super Bowl and Shula took Miami to its first...

Re: CHOG concept
Brian Noble? Laughs. Actually, there probably are a few Packers that could make that list. Dave Pureifory? Did Bill Maas make a Pro Bowl? Did Reggie McKenzie or Mike Kadish make one? Steve DeBerg might be the franchise QB of the group. There might be a few Lions, Bills, Cardinals, Falcons, Patriots ...

Re: Records of one conference vs the other by year
This is great - where did you find it? I don't have the time but it would be interesting to compare what years each conference won the Super Bowl to these records. Colts won in 1970, I'd be curious what the Colts, Browns, and Steelers records were against NFC teams that year. Kind of surprised that ...

Re: Worst draft classes for a team
1967 Falcons, coming off an expansion year, had NO ONE from their draft make the team. Shortly before the draft the Falcons traded their #1 pick (number 3 overall) to the 49ers for three players. The best of these players was WR Bernie Casey. I am guessing that Casey made it clear he wouldn't repor...

Re: Best Teams To Miss The Playoffs
Oh, and if we're just talking about teams from after the merger in 1970, I might vote for the 1979 Redskins. I think they would have been the NFC's top seed for the playoffs if not for that one-point to Dallas in the final game. I thought that also until a few years ago when I really dug in and res...

Is this date correct? That would have been last month.

Re: What's the biggest football moment you witnessed in person?
I remember Don Majkowski wore #5 (Paul Hornung's number) in that game. He was usually #7, but he wore 5 that day. Was kind of neat to see. I don't know if he or the team was honoring Hornung that day, but he wore #5. That's the number he was issued. It was changed after one season. Hornung's number...
