Re: "Equal"s

I wouldn't say necessarily "equal" but I would say Brown, Lombardi, and Noll are above everybody else - a higher tier of coach than anyone else. They are each their own, so I wouldn't call them equals but they are equals in terms of who they are historically, IMO. And I guess maybe that's ...

Re: Something dumb that you remember about watching the NFL

The issue for me isn't that. It's that I'd seen a lot of football and never hed seen it called before ... maybe you did, but it was something that was a surprise. It meant they were wrong for years and years and that was when they started enforcing it. Right! That's my objection exactly. That was t...

Re: 1971 NFL season discussion

1971 last year of hashes where they were...1972 they were narrowed and running game took over. The less extreme of the wide side vs narrow side allowed runs either way ... teams no longer ran sweeps to the wide side majority of the side. Fantastic point. The number of 1,000 yard rushers doubled in ...

Re: SB Champions That Should Have Repeated

82 Raiders might have been derailed with the strike and crazy 82 playoffs. There are probably other teams that could have repeated by winning the previous year.

Re: Looking At the Teams That Attempted to Threepeat

The 1980 "one for the thumb" Steelers might have had the most difficult path because of age. But it's amazing that some of these teams even made it to the conference championship game. So many factors with injuries, age, breaks, turnover of personnel. As Bob Skoronski of the Packers said,...

Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated

I realize that I'm opening myself to a lot of potential criticism here but this discussion - IMHO - seems to be totally off the rails. The Bills and Broncos dominated the AFC Championship Games for their time. Denver won 3 out of 4 and the Bills won 4 straight. I don't care what they did two weeks l...

Re: 1971 NFL season discussion

George Allen's first season in Washington. NFL Films did a really good overview of their season that used to be on YouTube. Not sure if it still is. Basically knocked the Rams out of the playoffs on a late Monday Night Football win. Dallas won their first Super Bowl and Shula took Miami to its first...

Re: CHOG concept

Brian Noble? Laughs. Actually, there probably are a few Packers that could make that list. Dave Pureifory? Did Bill Maas make a Pro Bowl? Did Reggie McKenzie or Mike Kadish make one? Steve DeBerg might be the franchise QB of the group. There might be a few Lions, Bills, Cardinals, Falcons, Patriots ...
