Re: The GOAT Index: NFL coaches, execs rank best QBs since 1

Overall I think it's a pretty good list (1-3 are no-brainers). Elway and Aaron Rodgers are very close. Elway gets the nod for now with 2 Super bowl wins and a record of 5-1 in conference championship games. Panelists received an information packet with stats and career accolades I would be curious t...

Re: "AP Only" School of Thought

Bump ... I read this NFL.com article a couple days ago and found it somewhat interesting - even though the author used an "AP Only" approach. His claim that Jerry Rice never won an NFL MVP award really took the cake. Rice was the consensus MVP in '87 (ditto for Sanders in '97). He totally ...

Re: 2017 Obituaries

Pioneer Bernie Custis, pro football's first designated starting black quarterback passed away yesterday at age 88. Custis started every game at QB for Hamilton in 1951 and led them to the IRFU Finals. https://www.thestar.com/sports/football/2017/02/23/trailblazing-black-quarterback-bernie-custis-dea...

Re: 75 seasons

I remember watching it when it premiered on TNT...just a wonderful documentary. Very well presented. I loved Joe Namath in it, just how expressive and passionate he was. Describing his contract negotiations...when he gave his salary demand and asked for a new car and the two Cardinals representativ...

Re: Steelers Chiefs game being rescheduled due to weather

There was no scheduling change made. The 12/27/77 Dallas Morning News said that the Broncos-Raiders game would be played starting at noon because "the NFL feared extremely low temperatures as well as snow and wind might become too great a factor with a late game at Mile High Stadium." The...

How could they not include Game 7 of the 1960 World Series? Unreal.

Re: 1962 Broncos Blue Horse Helmet Logo

I thought the more recent scan of the '62 Patriots highlight film answered this question. I wasn't aware of the film scan/screenshot. Until yesterday I had never seen any film or photo proof that confirmed the exact color of the logo. I'll have to go back and re-watch the '62 Patriots HL, though I ...

1962 Broncos Blue Horse Helmet Logo

I just found this today, though photo confirmation concerning the exact color of the short-lived 1962 Broncos blue horse helmet logo was announced back in April (I seem to remember a thread about this in the old PFRA forum): http://www.denverbroncos.com/news-and-blogs/article-1/Uncovering-the-rare-1...

Re: Jim Fraser, soccer style kicker

So since Fraser actually kicked a field goal in the All-Star Game, does that make him the first soccer style kicker since he "did it all"? I guess the Pro Bowl is an exhibition, but yeesh. I posted a thread in the old forum and on riderfans.com in 2014 about Geno Beretta of the CFL's Mont...

Re: Best CFL squads ever

The 1960 Winnipeg Blue Bombers actually lost the best of three Western Final 2 games to 1. As Retro Rider said, Kenny Ploen's broken hand was mostly to blame as this was indeed Bud Grant's best team. Had the Big Blue gotten by Edmonton and then Ottawa in the Grey Cup game, it could have been five i...
