Re: CFL QBs: Jackie Parker VS Ron Lancaster VS Russ Jackson

TSN honored the TOP 50 CFL All-Time Greatest Players in 2006. The Top 10 included 5 QB's (including Jackie Parker): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TSN_Top_50_CFL_Players - Doug Flutie #1 - Jackie Parker #3 (played multiple positions) - Warren Moon #5 - Ron Lancaster #7 - Russ Jackson #8 I think Jacks...

Re: 10 Greatest Games for Each Season of the Super Bowl Era

1972 10/22 - Jets 24, Colts 20 Why not Namath-Unitas again? Joe does his megabomb heroics late again, hitting Eddie Bell with 83-yard game winner. I remember the Jets nearly let the Colts off the hook in the dying seconds (game saving tackle at the Jets 2 yard line as time expired). Namath complete...

Re: best way to get old NFL games

NFL Films took over filming the AFL in '68 and they produced ONLY a weekly highlight show for the AFL (while the NFL got preferential treatment w/ their GOTWs). I wish we could "special order" those '68 AFL weekly highlight shows (would love to see more of Marlin Briscoe at quarterback). ...

Re: Hottest & coldest non-NFL non-pre-season games

Any historic CFL games that top Ice or Freezer Bowl? None that I can find record of, but the 1970 (Game 3) and 1993 Western Final Playoff games had the added feature of snow. The 1993 WF (Edmonton @ Calgary) is listed as the coldest: -21.3 degrees celsius (-6.38 farenheit) Damon Allen (a California...

Re: The Big Book of Black Quarterbacks

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but Karl Douglas of the CFL's B.C. Lions (shown on list) and Montreal's Jimmy Jones made history on September 11, 1973. This marked the first time that two black QB's started in a professional football game. Douglas completed 12 passes in 22 attempts for 195 y...

Re: 1967 Bart Starr & 2015 Peyton Manning Coincidence

Wonder how many Denver fans had a bad flashback when they took a 10-0 lead. Elway's td reception in Super Bowl 22 is exactly what ran through my mind when yesterday's Broncos went up 10-0. Part of me sat there afterward waiting for the roof to cave in, but my confidence soon returned when it ...

Re: Sam Freaking Spence

I've been watching a lot of old TWIPF programs lately. The combination of Sam's unforgettable music along with the tremendous chemistry between Brookie and Pat made for one of the greatest television programs ever. That is my favorite sports program ever and looking back I probably became a fan of ...

Re: 1967 Bart Starr & 2015 Peyton Manning Coincidence

Also, Manning's passing numbers in SB 50 are roughly similar to what John Elway put up in SB 32:

Manning SB 50 - 13/23 for 141 yards with no td's & 1 interception

Elway SB 32 - 12/22 for 120 yards with no td's & 1 interception

Re: "AP Only" School of Thought

Thanks John for that information and for providing a complete list of NY Chapter winners (Terry Metcalf over Jim Hart for the 1974 NFC MVP award - that's interesting). The Wisconsin Chapter gave out awards as well (starting in the late 1960's I believe). I recently found a Google news link with info...
