Re: Broncos' Loss

Manning's 88.5 in playoff appearances is just shy of his 97.5 regular season but relative to the opponents passer rating allowed he's 118% of what his normal regular season opponent allows and 120% of what his normal post season opponents allowed. This whole argument is a red herring. The same numb...

Re: Broncos' Loss

The stuff about Manning and the playoffs is mostsly just noise. The difference between his regular season numbers and his playoff numbers isn't that different from any of the QBs you'd compare him to. But you look at the games where he dropped a pootie and the common thread is the coaching -- Jeff ...

Re: Broncos' Loss

Really bad loss for the Broncos today. You have to now wonder if this isn't the beginning of the end for John Fox in Denver. It just seems that whatever he's done to improve them in his tenure there has been undone by his various failures, and it may just be time for the organization to move on. Al...

Re: They Picked Up the Flag!

Yes, my point exactly. Cowboy fans would have been upset and nobody else. Same would have occured if it was the Pats on defense; there would have been a huge outcry. Put anyone but Dallas and NE in this situation and there wouldn;t be half the concern since sometimes the best call is no penalty. The...

Re: They Picked Up the Flag!

Well, the NFL has said that the call could have gone either way, so no issue with picking up the flag. The mechanics of how it was handled (make the call and then reverse it) seem to be the real issue. They've also pointed out numerous missed calls on both Dallas and Detroit throughout the game. Th...

Re: Jethro Pugh

I think he would have received more accolades if sack stats were available when he played. Pugh led the Cowboys in sacks from 1968-1972 posting double digit figures in 4 of those seasons. His numbers fell after that. With the arrival of Jones and Martin, the Cowboys had more depth in their defensive...

Re: best rookie season by a receiver

Would have voted for Moss. Others that could be on the list are Boldin and Hayes. Both Hayes, Jefferson and Moss were first in TD receptions. Hayes and JJ were 4th in yardage while Moss was 3rd. Howton was first in receiving yards and 2 in TD receptions. Hayes also did a good job returning punts an...

Re: 1971 FB preview

A couple of writers picked the Jets to win their division even though Namath was lost for a couple of months. Yes, the defense was good in 1970 but they had lost Biggs on defense and Sauer and Snell on offense.

Re: '68 Packers expectations

Some 1968 Packers questions: Weren't Grabowski and Anderson super-hyped to carry the load to continue the Packer dynasty? I thought it was considered a huge coup that Lombardi signed both before he left. Anybody ever seen a picture of Errol Mann on the 1968 Packers? Just wondering if one exists. Wa...
