Re: A question about evaluating quarterbacks
Two tihngs: 1. I have not heard of Strat-O-Matic, what is that? and 2. In my experience these days, coaches are criticized more for clock management than quarterbacks are. Strat-o-Matic is a board game. There are individual cards for each player and if you play out a season, their statistics will c...

Re: A question about evaluating quarterbacks
Reading this thread has me thinking fondly back to my old APBA playing days. Nobody rated higher than a 5 on those cards, and beery arguments with my buddy Gary over some QB (Brodie? Morrall? Hadl?) being rated a 3 one season. Played a few games while eating Cheetos. Orange thumb prints all over th...

Re: Obscure trivia
Here I thought it might be the Broncos team that went 11-5 and missed the playoffs in 1985, but I see that they lost to the Dolphins at home.

Re: Mahomes, going into SBLVIII today, what HOF QBs has he already 'passed'??
I agree the game is different and I am one of the first guys to say things like, "What about Otto Graham/Bart Starr/Johnny Unitas" when people start raving about current quarterbacks. I've been watching since the late 70s. I saw the back half of the Steelers dynasty. I watched Montana's e...

Re: Andy Reid vs Tom Landry vs Don Shula
Reid is being underrated here fairly significantly. I said before the game the Chiefs would win and they would outcoach the 49ers. They outcoached the 49ers the last time, outcoached the Eagles, outcoached the 49ers again. I am very impressed by that. Above Landry, no question about it. Shula in th...

Re: Pro Football Hall of Fame, Class of 2024 talk
Does Art Powell not getting in break a streak? Who was the last Senior Finalist not to get in before this? Thanks. Dick Stanfel in 2012 Stanfel was chosen again by the Senior Committee a few years later, after he died. He made the HOF that time. Paul Tagliabue was the last coach/contributor to not ...

Re: 1991 Eagles in Detail
Thanks Leonard ... yeah, it seemed like once the 49ers handed it to Philly this year, the Eagles lost some swagger as Dallas pounded them next. The defense just couldnt keep any momentum from the 10-1 start and without a better pass rush, left the secondary exposed, which even the Seahawks, with Dr...

Re: Cunningham in top Dozen
Healthy pre-injury Randall Cunningham was one of the top dozen unstoppable players I've seen on pretty much any team. There's a reason why they called him "The Ultimate Weapon." He was great.
