Yes you are correct, it was the first rematch from that same regular season. And ironically, it was the last game of that regular season. Bengals Kicker Jim Breech kicked in 2 Super Bowl games wearing a different jersey number in each game, #10 in XVI and #3 in XXIII.

When Aaron Hernandez was with the Patriots, he switched from #85 to #81.
I don't know if that coincided with the arrival of Chad Johnson, or whether or not any transaction was involved.
