Re: 2023 Conference Championship Games
The game's best catcher getting a gruesomely broken leg is a bit more than "nicked up."

Re: 2023 Conference Championship Games
Campbell has spent his tenure in Detroit presenting himself as a firebrand, a no-nonsense gambler. Now that a few of those gambles have blown up in his face, I wonder if he's smart enough to learn from having overreached so badly.

Re: NFL's Most Influential Teams

Re: Kirk Cousins (R.I.P. Vikings career?) - How did he do?
Something the Vikings have struggled to do is draft and develop a franchise quarterback within their own system. They always seem to end up with someone else's rejects. In this century, their only real score in that area has been Culpepper. Since Tarkenton retired, Culpepper and Tommy Kramer are the...

Re: Freezer Bowl
I also noticed that the Packers used to have many of their home games in the first half of the season and went on the road in the second half. I assume that was to try to an avoid the cold in Green Bay? Partly, also so that Green Bay could take care of their annual games at Los Angeles and San Fran...

Re: Freezer Bowl
I think we'd better get used to scenarios like the one in Buffalo. It's become relatively commonplace to suspend games and clear out fans when there's lightning near the stadium, and to cut exhibition games short when weather conditions dictate it. Now a playoff game has been rescheduled. Such moves...

That's usually what I go with for night games I don't especially care about. Thank goodness for Westwood One.ChrisBabcock wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 7:46 pm I'll just head to my upstairs office and tune the game in on the radio. The rest of my family will probably be in bed anyway.

Re: 2023 - 24 season first round playoff schedule
So now we get to pay for the privilege of watching an NFL playoff game. I'm surprised it took this long, honestly.

Re: Incredible officiating moment in Packers-Vikings
For a lot of fans, the thing that drives them crazy about NFL officiating is the inconsistency. Something gets called in one game, and the identical thing gets ignored in another game. I too thought there was no way that wasn't a penalty.

Re: Neutral? Hah!
Tangentially related factoid: During their Super Bowl era, the Vikings played 10 out of their 11 non-SB playoff games at home. And most of these were before playoff teams were seeded; they just benefited from the luck of the rotation system that many times. The one year they would have had to go on ...
