Re: Semi-Pro Players Who Made It to the NFL

Eric Swann played for the Bay State Titans of Lynn, Massachusetts, in 1990, and from there he was the 6th overall selection of the 1991 NFL Draft.

Re: PFHOF Semifinalists

I am gladly surprised that Mike Kenn made it. Although I believe he won't get elected this year (and maybe never) he deserves to advance. William Andrews and Gerald Riggs had great seasons with him blocking.

Re: How bad is the Search function?

I was in a situation that in that week I had to travel due to work, so I was unable to save the posts. It's a shame that
a lot of quality information apparenly is lost, but I hope that the topics of the posts than couldn't be saved be discussed again: I"ll try to start some of them.

Re: Mike Curtis vs. Jack Lambert

It's interesting that Curtis and Hanburger played for the same 14 seasons and ended as teammates for their final two (Curtis replaced Hanburger in 1977 when he was injured).

Re: Chances the Raiders go 0-16

I think they can win a game, the 2007 Dolphins and the 1980 Saints are examples of teams that won their only victory of the season late on the year.

By the way, what about the 2008 Lions? IMHO they were worst than this year Raiders.

Re: Bud Grant Statue Unveiled in Winnipeg

When you see the teams that Grant coached north of the border, they had many NFL quality players like QB Ken Ploen, RB Leo Lewis, T Frank Rigney, DE Herb Gray and DT Buddy Tinsley. All of them are inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and at one time were drafted by NFL clubs.

Re: Has Anyone Ever Seen a Catch Like This?

One similar catch I do remember was in a strike-replacement Monday Night game in 1987 between the 49ers and Giants. NY wide receiver Lewis Bennett caught 46-yard TD pass in the endzone like your grand- nephew. I'm searching for the video, but in this link it is quoted: http://bleacherreport.com/arti...

Re: Have we hit rock bottom with NFL uniforms?

I've never been a fan of the Jaguars uniforms, being old or new. But IMHO the Panthers unis are currently in the top 10, with good fonts and colors.

Re: Hypothetical Coaching Question

George Allen, Bud Grant and Bum Phillips, they got the good players to play great, and the average players to play good.

Re: your favorite absurd football stories

I recall in a Street & Smith magazine interview of Floyd Peters (when he was one of the top Defensive Coordinators in the league) that in training camp in 1958 with the Colts in his rookie year, Weeb Ewbank threatened to fire every player to miss curfew and call every other coach in the league a...
