NFL Media Guides

Post by lietzaro24 »

I'm looking for a little help with something. I'm trying to find original publications of past NFL media guides online. I have found that the Colts, Saints, Broncos, Patriots and Dolphins have their entire catalog of media guides on their team's website. I've found a site where some Redskins media guides are posted from the early days of the franchise to 1981. Most NFL teams have more recent media guides posted online from the 2000's but I'm looking for media guides from the 1975 to 1994 or so. Does anyone know of websites where these guides are posted online? There's always the option of buying every media guide available on eBay but I'm obviously trying to avoid that. If there's anyone out there with any answers, I would definitely appreciate the help.

Thanks guys,
Rob

I have often used the resources of the Hesburgh Library at Notre Dame. They have 1000 team media guides in their collection and will make photocopies upon request, but you must be specific about the information for the guide that you want (player bios ,rosters, statistics, etc). I usually attack a sample file of the material (from a different team media guide ) I am looking for and that seems to help. I highly recommend them.

Super helpful everyone, thank you! I had found that ND collection before but didn't know that one could request photocopies. Game changer. Thanks so much.

I have used the internet archive and the team websites as well. Occasionally, you can find reasonably priced older media guides on ebay. Sometimes they're overpriced but occasionally they aren't.

I only have the credentials for the Cowboys (if anyone has them for the 49ers or Bears that'd be awesome), but to access every media guide and (almost every) gamebook in Cowboys franchise history use these credentials to log in to their media site:

cowboysguest
cowboys2021

Everything is under Media Center. Sort by year in the upper right.

Many Bears media guides are on the internet archive -- the link someone posted above. Even from the 1950s and 60s.

I gave this route a try after you posted this. Really glad I did, they were able to send me rosters from a few media guides that I haven’t had luck tracking down before. This is definitely a helpful resource, thanks for sharing with us!
