2022/23 Conference Championship Games

Post by Brian wolf »

The beauty of winning a SB for any team, is winning not only the SB World Championship but the conference championship game as well, which allows a team to win it all. With Mahomes being the only QB left in the playoffs with six or more years experience, finally another team can have a chance to win it all with a young QB that has a bright future. Hopefully, the games will be close and new chapters in clutch performance for the teams and players can stay in the fans and viewers memories for a long time.

One feature of the 1978 NFC Championship game is that the NFC logo was featured in the middle of the field. The 1978 AFC Championship game featured no midfield logo at all.

If Philly's defense looks outstanding in these next two games, DC Jonathan Gannon deserves a lot of credit for molding them into a complete unit this year in only his second season, coming in with Sirianni. He could possibly get on the HC hiring radar, soon.

Key match-ups in today's games: https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-conference ... 57121.html

According to that writer only one RB gained more than 60 yards vs. the 49ers all season (and he needed OT to accomplish that) while the "Iggles" have "the best O-line in the league" (at least according to him).

As for the AFC Championship: Travis Kelce is obviously a big weapon for Patrick Mahomes while CIN is apparently really good at stopping TEs in the passing game. A match-up to watch. Oh, and there's that little thing about CIN having beaten K.C. the last 3 times the two teams have met.

Hope they're great ones!

Great catch by Smith to help give the Birds a 7-0 lead ... and the NFC Championship game is underway ...

Great half for Reddick on the pass rush ... Will Purdy play the second half?

If they put McCaffery in at QB they gotta show some Tom Matte footage, right?

Gannon has the Eagles defense ready to play. Too bad an injured Jimmy G wasnt activated.

Very disappointed in all the bad breaks that befell the 49ers (starting with the catch-but-not-really-a-catch on that "Iggles" 4th & 3 early in the game) but that's the way it goes sometimes. It's a shame that SFO lost to both CHI and DEN this season. Otherwise they could've hosted today's game and maybe things would've gone differently.

Oh, well.

Tough coaching game for Shanahan ... didnt challenge the catch from Smith. Protections were wrong with non-tackles trying to block Reddick and too many penalties from a frustrated defense. This team is in great shape with Purdy for the future but the fans have to be frustrated with these championship losses ...
