What do people who saw Don Meredith play think? He came damn close to winning two Championships. Who is he comparable to?
Thanks,
Nick

I might say Danny White. Statistically, at least, they're a pretty good match. They both played as "regulars" for eight years, and neither one was quite able to get his team over the hump.

Pastorini probably profiles closest to being his eras Mark Sanchez. Led run first offense, poor accuracy, poor decision making and prone to interceptions and making the same mistake over and over. Yet had a few impressive playoff moments. Career won/loss record is better than you'd expect due to being on good teams for a stretch.

Pastorini is almost certainly the most overrated QB of the 70’s, if not a much longer period. The fact that continues to astonish me is that he never had a single season with more TD passes than interceptions.

Dan Pastorini was one of those QBs with supposedly great physical potential which teams thought would eventually come. Al Davis traded for him thinking the Raider offense would bring out Pastorini's ability.
After Pastorini's injury and his replacement by Jim Plunkett, Ram GM Don Klosterman traded for him in 1981. Klosterman, according to Joel Buchsbaum, had coveted Pastorini since his college days and thought in the mid-70s he could be a Super Bowl QB playing for the Rams.
