NFL Official Game Ball before 1941?
I think most all of us on this forum are aware that Wilson Sporting Goods has provided the National Football League with the official game ball since 1941. However, I'm not entirely sure what football was official prior to 1941. I assume it was Spalding, but is possible that there was no real offici...

Re: History of NFL record book
A couple of other landmark years for the NFL Record & Fact Book: -1970: For the first time, the NFL Record Manual became available to the general public as Fawcett-Gold Medal distributed a paperback book edition to bookstores, drug stores and newsstands. Cover price was $1.25. -1984: The NFL com...

Re: Color of goal post 1936
There was NO standard color of goalposts prior to 1966.
The default color was white. but some teams (The Browns in the 1964 NFL Title Game is a good example) would use team colors as stripes on their posts.

HOWEVER, when I tried to do so, I was given this notice: "Sorry, this item hasn't been shared with you."
Never saw this before.

Re: start time of NFL championship games
If the 1968 NFL Title game was at 2:00, then what time did the Jets and Raiders play at Shea? I always assumed that the NFL Title Game that year was a 4:00 start. Kickoffs for the Championship Games for 1968: Raiders-Jets 1:00 on NBC. Colts-Browns 2:30 on CBS. Yes, there was obvious overlap. So for...

Re: Why is CBS showing the Seattle Carolina game?
This season, as part of the renewed contracts with CBS and Fox, allows for some games to be flexed from what would normally a CBS telecast to Fox and vice versa. The purpose of the flexing is to balance the telecast schedules between Fox and CBS (so as an example, Fox doesn't have 9 games and CBS ju...
