Cumulative NFL Draft Trivia - 20 Questions

Post by SeahawkFever »

Came up with these 20 draft questions in my free time one night. Hope you find them at least interesting.

All answers concern only players in the NFL draft. Not AFL or AAFC in the years those were split.

All drafts since 1936 can be the answer of a question unless otherwise noted.

1. The players of which NFL draft class have played the most career games in the regular season?

2. In addition to the answer to the previous question, the players of what other two NFL drafts combined for 17,500 games played in the regular season?

3. The players of which NFL draft class have thrown the most passing touchdowns?

4. In addition to the answer to the previous question, what three other drafts saw their players combine for 1,000 passing touchdowns?

5. The players of which NFL draft class have scored the most receiving touchdowns?

6. In addition to the answer to the previous question, which other three draft classes have 750 combined receiving touchdowns?

7. The players of which NFL draft class have scored the most rushing touchdowns?

8. In addition to the answer to the previous question, what are the other four draft classes with 500 or more career rushing touchdowns?

9. The players of which NFL draft class have thrown the most interceptions?

10. What are the other four draft classes whose players combined for 850 or more interceptions thrown?

11. The players of which NFL draft class have caught the most interceptions on defense?

12. What are the other two draft classes that produced 600 or more interceptions caught?

13. The players of which NFL draft class have produced the most sacks on defense?

14. In addition to the answer to the previous question, what are the other four draft classes have produced 1,200 combined sacks through the 2024 season?

15. What NFL draft class since 1970 has the most first team all pro selections?

16. What are the two draft classes since 1970 that are over a decade old that share the record for fewest combined first team all pro selections?

17. By pro football reference’s weighted approximate value stat, what shows up as the best NFL draft ever?

18. By pro football reference’s approximate value stat, what shows up as the worst draft class since 1960 with no active players?

19. What NFL draft since 1967 with no active players has the fewest combined games played from the top 15 picks?

20. What NFL draft from 1967 to 1992 has the most combined games played from all picks beyond 263rd?

You may be wondering, why 263rd pick or lower specifically? Well the NFL draft since they went to seven rounds with the most total selections was 262. So the players in the answer to that last question are officially in a spot of the draft board that wouldn’t exist today.

3. Correct, the players in the 2004 NFL draft combined to throw 1,398 passing touchdowns.

5. Incorrect, though 1985 is one of the answers for six.

Side note about the 1985 NFL draft: It had the most receiving yards of any draft class in NFL history at the time, and it still would even if you remove Jerry Rice’s receiving yards.

I'm going to guess that the answer to #5 is 1996: Terrell Owens, Marvin Harrison, Eric Moulds, Keyshawn Johnson, Terry Glenn, Eddie Kennison, Amani Toomer, Bobby Engram.

And #14's answer is 2011: J.J. Watt, Von Miller, Cam Heryward, Cam Jordan, Justin Houston, Ryan Kerrigan, Robert Quinn.

You are correct, number 5 is 1996's draft class. All the guys you mentioned plus Mushim Muhammad and Joe Horn got over 7,700 receiving yards in their careers. That's ten receivers that had a very solid career at the very least.

2011 produced the most sacks in NFL history and is the answer to #13. #14 is what are the four other draft classes that produced 1,200 sacks?

Interesting article, was not aware that that existed. I should clarify that I only considered the main NFL draftees, so Reggie White would not count as a part of the 1984 draft.

I was thinking of 1983 (who had three 100+ sack players in Richard Dent, Greg Townsend and Jim Jeffcoat, and three others broke 75)

2010 (Carlos Dunlap is the only 100 sack player, but six others made it to 70 sacks)

1975 (only 100+ sack player in Randy White, but two others in the 90’s in Fred Dean and George Martin, and Gary Johnson had 76)

and 2016’s draft classes (quite a few pass rushers are still active from this class, but it already has six players who have made it to 60 sacks, four of them 70+. Chris Jones who just crossed 80 being the most).
