Ron Widby was a four-sport letterman at the University of Tennessee. He was an All-American basketball forward, punted for a 43.8 average, baseball first baseman and .300 hitter, and one year played Golf. Widby played pro basketball one year in the old ABA, punted in Super Bowls V and VI for the Cowboys, holds Cowboy record for longest punt-84 yards. He finished his football career with two seasons in Green Bay, once throwing a TD pass. In 1966-67 was the SEC Basketball Player of the Year. In his junior and senior seasons, Widby would play in a holiday basketball tournament on a Friday night, hop in a plane and fly to Houston and Jacksonville where the Tennessee football team was playing a bowl game.fgoodwin wrote:RIP: Ron Widby (P: 1967-71)
